Ricardo Merlin Robertson
Born in Durban, South Africa, Ricardo Merlin Robertson is the pen name of Patrick White - self-taught
computer specialist, designer, builder and lifelong creator. His life has carried him through
extraordinary hardship, discovery, love and loss, while his instinct to understand how things work
has shaped both his career and his art.
He also sculpts the creatures of Pachacutiq by hand from polymer clay and whatever the Cape Cod
shoreline offers - shells, driftwood and sea glass. Allira, shown in the page devoted to the book “My
Friend Sebastian” was born beneath his hands.

Confronting Dark (memoir, 2026) - A true story of childhood, survival and the courage to never give
up: the scars, the silence, and the long walk out of both. Not a story of revenge, but a testament to
the courage it takes to keep living. Written over twelve years.
The Shield & the Monolith (biographical fiction, 2026) - One keystroke erased eighteen years of
protection. A novel built from a real medical timeline: names, clinics and characters fictionalized;
the dates, the data and the harm are not.
From The Author's Ledger
"Confronting Dark took twelve years to become a book. What finally moved it forward wasn't a
deadline - it was the people who kept asking when they'd get to read it. If you were one of the
people who waited, or if you're just arriving now: thank you for being here."
"I use Grammarley AI the way I'd use an editor or a trusted early reader - a tool in the process, not
a replacement for it. I wrote this book from a crystal clear memory that has stayed with me
through multiple TIA’s and four strokes. I used a tool to help me write it well. Both things are
true."but the prose is mine alone.
