About my Art.
A Note from Ricardo Merlin Robertson
As you travel through the unfolding tapestry of Pachacutiq, please understand
that I did not create these creatures for sale. I sculpted them to give physical form
to what I see through my mind’s eye—a world born from a vivid and persistent
imagination.
I am seventy years old, and unlike Meta and the other hungry gannets of society,
money is not my purpose. I simply have a story to tell.
Just as an artist uses a brush, a sculptor uses clay, or an animator uses a
computer, I sometimes work with an AI companion to refine an image and
enhance the experience of those entering my world. The imagination, characters,
sculptures, philosophy and story remain my own.
Recently, Meta fell over its own mouth when it labelled an image developed from
my handmade sculpture of Allira merely as “AI content.” The label offered no
acknowledgement of the physical sculpture, the years of creative work, or the
human imagination from which she emerged.
At first, I was angry.
Then, as I have done so many times before, I took that anger and turned it into
energy. I used it to strengthen the work, preserve its origins and make everything
that followed more meaningful.
Allira and all the creatures of Pachacutiq were born beneath my
hands.
AI helped me illuminate the world around them.
